网曝吃瓜 to Receive the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant
College to Receive Approximately $6 Million Over Five Years
Garden City, New York 鈥� 网曝吃瓜 (NCC) is honored to receive the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant (CCLC). The College鈥檚 Center for Excellence and Innovation (CEI) will receive approximately $6 million for five years of programming aimed at supporting underserved communities and reducing the racial wealth gap.
鈥淎t 网曝吃瓜 we are focused on meeting the needs of the communities we serve. Through our Center for Excellence and Innovation we are providing resources for students and their families to see their post-secondary dreams come to fruition,鈥� said Interim President Dr. Maria Conzatti. 鈥淲e are excited to partner with the Westbury Union Free School District and SCO Family of Services in providing academic enrichment, family engagement, and post-secondary preparedness for students and their families.鈥�
鈥淎s our students across the state continue to recover from the pandemic, it is important that we encourage and provide resources for schools, in partnership with outside agencies, to deliver supplemental support for our most vulnerable students,鈥� said Lester W. Young, Jr., Chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents. 鈥淭hese grants will enable our schools to engage with local partners to expand enrichment activities and services to meet the needs of the families in their communities.鈥�
鈥淔or many of our students, their school provides a support system and place to feel safe,鈥� said Commissioner of Education Betty A. Rosa. 鈥淭he funding from these grants will allow more schools to work with outside community organizations to provide needed support to even more young people.鈥�
The CLCC Grant is awarded to sites that provide opportunities for academic enrichment and offer supplemental services such as youth development programs, after-school activities, health and wellness education, and counseling. In addition, the centers help families of students become more involved in their children鈥檚 education. Funding for the subgrants is distributed across the state among judicial districts (JD) based on the percentage of disadvantaged students that attend schools in each JD.
The grant is an annual award over a five-year period that begins July 1, 2022, and ends on June 30, 2027, subject to the availability of funds from the U.S. Department of Education and the satisfactory performance of the grantee in the previous year.
